Have to believe the Mavericks will come into this gm #2 with
alot of intensity, while also having the personnel and talent to
being able to make adjustments on the fly. Look for Diop to have
learned alot from his first playoff experience from having to
body up Duncan, and to do alot better this time around (limiting
his fouls by keeping himself in better defensive positions). Have
to believe the Mavericks will have developed some plays to get
Nowitzki free for some more open looks and can see the Mavs
trying to get the ball to Howard alot more this game. Look for
Mavs PG Terry to have a much better game this time around as
he will be matched-up against the Spurs Parker who is currently
battling alot of nagging injuries (thigh contusion, suffered in the
last game), that will severely limit his ability to drive the lane,
which will also in all likelyhood limit his defense against Terry.
Spurs SG Ginobili has been struggling with his shot which inturn
has obviously effected his defensive output as he has been expending
alot more energy trying to get his offense going. Look for the
Spurs to use their fouls this time around and make Duncan beat
them from the foul line if need be. Mohammed has obviously found
his way into coach Pop's doghouse (no word why), but have to
believe that having to play Duncan at center, after having played
PF all year will eventually have some sort of effect on the flow of
the offense and defense (turnovers). All in all can see the Mavericks
coming in with a big effort and enough adjustments to even this series
going back to Dallas. Remember Johnson played for the Spurs and Pop,
so he in all likelyhood knows what Pop is thinking and how to
counter. Avery is a very smart coach and will push the necessary
buttons to get his players to respond, positively.
